Mindful Horsemanship: Starting the Journey with Vulnerability and Connection

As we step into 2025, it feels like the perfect moment to breathe life into the Mindful Equestrian Journal.

This first entry has been a long time coming. I’ve had the idea for this journal in my heart for almost a year, but actually putting it into words hasn’t been easy. My thoughts were always spinning, but when I tried to get them down on paper, I froze. I realized I was afraid—afraid of being seen, of being vulnerable, and of what others might think. As someone who’s always felt more comfortable staying in the background, it’s taken a lot of inner work to break through those walls and finally start writing.

What finally guided me here was the realization that this journal isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection—connection to the horses, to this work, and to the truth that lives beneath the surface.

This space is meant to be more than a collection of lessons learned. My hope is that it becomes a channel for the stories and wisdom horses have shared with me. Over the past decade, my journey with mindful horsemanship has been shaped by incredible equine teachers. Some have humbled me through ego-shattering lessons; others have gently illuminated the hidden corners of my soul, asking me to step deeper into presence.

The path of mindful horsemanship is not for the faint-hearted. It is raw, transformative, and awe-inspiring, often all at once. It asks us to face discomfort, to hold space for growth, and to honor the horse as a sacred being.

I invite you to walk this path with me—a journey where we see the horse not as an object of utility, but as a guide, a mirror, and a partner in healing and discovery. Together, let’s explore the moments that challenge us, inspire us, and bring us closer to the heart of what it means to live in harmony with these magnificent souls.

Welcome to the Mindful Equestrian Journal. I’m so grateful you’re here.
